In Togo, vaccination with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will begin on Monday, August 16, 2021, the Government decided on Wednesday.

The operations, which will be carried out with the 118,000 doses received a few days ago, exclusively concern Grand Lomé.

The vaccines will be administered in a single dose of 0.5 ml intramuscularly, to people aged 20 years and over, who have not previously received any other vaccine against Covid-19.

Anyone wishing to be vaccinated should be enrolled (dial * 844 # or register on the dedicated site) before going to a health center.

As for those still awaiting the second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine, arrangements are being made by the executive for the acquisition and dispatch of a new batch of this vaccine.

The introduction of Johnson & Johnson in Grand Lomé, while it is part of the strengthening of the national vaccine strategy, comes even as Togo is experiencing a new peak in contamination.

Since June 1, in fact, more than 100 new cases have been recorded daily and more than 35 deaths recorded, mainly unvaccinated people.

To date, more than 337,000 people have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine in the West African country.
