Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin arrived on Tuesday in Togo where he signed with his Togolese counterpart, Dr Lidi Bessi Kama, a memorandum of understanding for the development of sport in the two countries. Matytsin also has trips to other West African countries on his agenda, including Benin and Senegal.

This visit by Mr. Matytsin is part of his announced official tour to several African countries from April 25 to 29.

The memorandum signed with Togo aims to consolidate and develop bilateral cooperation in the field of physical culture and sport on the basis of reciprocity and mutual benefit.

Minister Oleg expressed his satisfaction for the signing of the said memorandum in the field of physical culture and sports, the implementation of which should give “new impetus to the dynamic development of sports cooperation” between the two countries.

“Russia is open to mutually beneficial cooperation with partner countries to develop new formats of sporting events,” the official said.

In Benin, a similar agreement was concluded the same day between Oleg and his counterpart, Oswald HOMEKY. “This is a memorandum of understanding between the two nations to materialize cooperation and training in the field of sports education,” said the Beninese ministry.
