After facing years of critics about how he was handling the national football team of Togo, the coach Claude Le Roy, has resigned on Monday, April 12, 2021.
The French football manager who unfortunately failed to qualify the Hawks of Togo for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2022) “took the decision to resign from his post following a meeting with the Minister of Sports and Leisure Dr Bessi LIDI- KAMA ”indicates a statement released on Monday.
“Claude Leroy thanks the sports authorities for their constant support and for offering him to work in the best conditions. He also wishes to warmly congratulate the players of the National Team and the members of his technical staff who allowed him to work with a lot of pleasure, a lot of professionalism on their part.” noted the press release.
Le Roy, 73, is a former French player who gained prominence at international level as coach to the Senegal and Ghana national teams before joining the Togolese team in 2016.
