Togo is one of the 10 countries in sub-Saharan Africa that have provided a better budgetary and financial response to COVID-19, revealed the World Bank through its specialized magazine Africa’s Pulse, in its report on the adaptation of African countries. climate change and economic transformation.
This document, which analyzes and takes into account the monetary, budgetary and financial policies used by States, aimed at protecting the lives and livelihoods of their population, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, shows that in Togo, “The measures deployed in response to the pandemic represent 6.8% of the GDP”.
A figure which ranks the country 5th in the sub-Saharan zone. Togo follows only Mauritius, Guinea Bissau, Seychelles and Rwanda.
Togo, on the other hand, outclasses countries such as South Africa, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Kenya and Nigeria.
This result comes on top of other recognitions obtained by the country in its management of the fight against the coronavirus.
According to the government, a survey also revealed last June that 91% of Togolese approve of the government’s handling of the situation.
