The Togolese Head of State, Faure Gnassingbé arrived Monday night in Washington at the invitation of the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, the government announced. In the American capital, Faure Gnassingbé will participate in the U.S-Africa Leaders Summit.
The Washington summit which is taking place from December 13 to 15, 2022, will allow participating leaders to reflect together on adjusting cooperation priorities in the face of contemporary challenges affecting all countries.
On the sidelines of the meeting of the Leaders Summit, the accompanying Togolese delegation will also take part in a business forum intended to promote the commercial partnership between the United States and the countries of Africa.
Increasing investment flows, promoting innovation, digital transformation, food security and climate sustainability will be among other topics to be discussed during the panels.
Togo and the United States of America have a convergence of views on major global issues, including the maintenance of peace and security, trade and the maritime economy.
The two countries are currently working on the implementation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Threshold Program, which will focus in particular on improving agricultural productivity and promoting digital technology.
