A new terrorist attack took place in the north of Togo, at the operational outpost of Kpinkankandi in the canton of Koundjouaré (prefecture Kpendjal), we learned from sources this Wednesday.
Contacted by the media, the Togolese Ministry of Security and Defence confirmed the new attack that took place on the night of May 10 to 11, but did not give details about what happened.
The ministry however promised to journalists, to communicate these details as soon as the information will be gathered.
According to some other sources, 8 soldiers were killed, while more than a dozen were injured.
As a reminder, in February, the inhabitants of a village in this Kpendjal Prefecture, had been ordered to leave under threat of reprisals. Many began to leave the premises before being escorted and secured by the forces deployed there.
Togo’s Defense and Security Forces have been conducting an operation called “Operation Koundjouaré” for some years in this northern city.
