In Togo, the retirements for all soldiers of the armed forces are suspended “until further notice”, announced Thursday via a memo, the Chief of the General Staff of FAT, Dadja Maganawé.
The decision, which took effect from December 1, comes at a time when Togo, through its new military programming law, “intends to further strengthen its army, in the face of various security threats.”
A few weeks ago, in the aftermath of the attack on Sanloaga in Kpendjal, instructions were given to the military high command to strengthen security arrangements on all borders.
As a reminder, in Togo, retirement for the military takes into account the age limit, the length of active service and ranks.
