Le gouvernement accordera une attention particulière à la protection du site de Koutammakou, patrimoine mondial de l’Unesco

– L’annonce a été faite par le ministre de la culture, du tourisme et
des loisirs, Kossivi Egbetonyo, à la faveur de sa visite de travail,
effectuée vendredi sur le site de Koutammakou, dans le pays des
Batammariba.

Le site classé
patrimoine mondial de l’Unesco depuis juillet 2004 et réputé pour son
magnifique paysage au milieu duquel trônent les Tatas Somba, maisons à
tourelles en terre, symboliques du Nord du Togo, est actuellement
confronté à des problèmes de dégradation.

Le ministre,
accompagné des autorités locales, a eu droit à une visite guidée puis
s’est entretenu avec le personnel chargé de la conservation du site.

« Il y a des détériorations qui peuvent être arrêtées si l’on s’y prend à temps »,
a affirmé Kossivi Egbetonyo. Et de rassurer les populations locales
tout devrait s’améliorer d’ici les deux prochaines années.

Rappelons que la région, située au nord-est du Togo, s’étend au-delà de la frontière du Bénin et couvre environ 50 000 hectares.
