Diplomatic relations between Togo and the Dominican Republic

Togo’s Foreign Minister Robert Dussey and Roberto Álvarez, his Dominican counterpart, on Tuesday signed the joint declaration officially establishing relations between the two nations.

Togo and the Dominican Republic are therefore officially linked by diplomatic ties.

The ceremony, organized in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, brought together several officials from both countries.

Following the signing of the documents, the two ministers expressed their desire to strengthen these new relations.

“On behalf of the Dominican Government and President Luis Abinader, Minister Álvarez expressed his willingness to work to strengthen ties between the two countries to strengthen our new bilateral relations.”, announced the ministry.

Located in the Caribbean region, the Dominican Republic is the second largest country in the Antilles after Cuba.

The country has a population almost equivalent to that of Togo (10 million inhabitants), of which about a third live in the metropolitan area of ​​its capital, Santo Domingo.
